COED-SPECIFIC RULES (5/5 FORMAT)

Gender Ratio

  • Teams must field at least an equal number of women as men at all times.
    Examples: 4M/4W, 5M/5W, 6M/6W.
  • Teams may always play more women than men, but never more men than women.

Player Leaves the Game

  • If a team starts with equal men and women and a woman must leave (injury, ejection, personal reason), a male player must also be removed to maintain the ratio.
  • At no time may the lineup or defense have more men than women.

Penalty for Ratio Violation

  • If a team ends up with more men than women:
    • The missing woman’s spot becomes an out the next time through.
    • The man hitting directly before or after her (team’s choice) must be removed and will take an out on his next at-bat only.
    • Exception: If the woman was ejected, the out is taken for the entire game.

No Waterfalling Lineups

  • If batting more women than men, you may lead off with either gender.
  • Once you reach the final male hitter, the remaining women must bat straight through until the lineup returns to the top.
    • Example: 5 men / 7 women, leading off with a man →
      M, W, M, W, M, W, M, W, M, W, W, W.

  • All women will hit the small ball.
